Video: Kendra Scott Color Bar + A GIVEAWAY

9 Nov

Jewelry has long been an obsession of mine, and it’s pretty easy to see the second you see my massive jewelry collection.

I have every kind of piece you can imagine, ranging from dainty to statement making. Pieces that I’ve splurged on, pieces that were handed down to me from my mom and grandma. For me, jewelry has always been really personal. It’s a reflection of my varying taste and each different piece holds a special memory.

I’ve always been a huge fan of Kendra Scott, and have grown to love the brand even more since they opened their Liberty Center store last year. I think most of the baubles I’ve added to my collection in the last year have been from Kendra Scott. Everything is just so good!

One of the staples of the Kendra Scott brand is the Color Bar. The Color Bar is a genius concept that allows you to customize your own piece of Kendra Scott jewelry via a touch screen and have it created in front of you to take home that day. Or, you can customize your baubles online from the comforts of your home. Amazing, right?!

It may or may not surprise you that I had an extremely difficult time narrowing down my design. Like I said, everything is too good! I ultimately decided on the Rayne necklace in rose gold metal with a rose quartz stone. I’m in love with it. I don’t have many rose gold pieces, and I loved the rich tone it gave off when paired with the rose quartz.

I teamed up with the Kendra Scott Liberty Center location to offer one lucky winner in the Cincinnati/Dayton area a chance to create something of their own from the Color Bar!

Fall Jewels + A GIVEAWAY

17 Oct

Grey Fitted Turtleneck

Long time no blog! I feel like 2016 has been one big hiatus for me, but my schedule got crazy again the past few weeks. When my calendar started filling up at the beginning of the year, I already knew October was going to be my busiest month. Well, here we are mid-month, and it’s just as insane as I predicted. Last week was spent in sunny Orlando for a real estate conference. It was about 90% work and 10% fun, but if you’ve ever been to a conference you know it’s 0% downtime to get stuff done. We tacked on an extra day after the conference for lounging, which was much-needed and incredible. Next up on my whirlwind October agenda? The Cutler Real Estate awards banquet in Canton later this week, a weekend trip to Cleveland for Joe’s birthday and then one of my best friend’s weddings that I’m in the following weekend. Just typing all that made the panic set in. Sure, most of it is fun stuff, but all that traveling can wear a girl out!

Tara Lea Smith Jewelry

Uniqlo Turtleneck

I’m starting the week with some fresh fall baubles. I recently met up with my friend Tara Lea Smith to see the gorgeous pieces she’s been creating the past year. If you want me to paint a pretty (and sparkly) picture, when I got home I immediately laid all of the necklaces across my bed to start doing some outfit brainstorming. Yes, I have so many new pieces that they took up my entire bed. I’m excited to share them with you over the next few months!

First up is this colorful purple, pink and yellow statement maker. It’s actually been pretty warm here, which is totally cool with me. I decided to keep it warm on top and breezy on the bottom, pairing a fitted grey turtleneck with a pleated leather skirt. I also recently rediscovered these mules that I got back in spring and had totally forgotten about. Score!

Bauble Wish List: Charm & Chain Collection

16 Jun

You’ve probably seen me mention Charm & Chain here before, as it’s one of my favorite online destinations for the latest and greatest in jewelry. With pieces from Erickson Beamon, DANNIJO, Loren Hope and Kendra Scott to name a few, it’s pretty much bauble heaven.

I was ecstatic when I recently noticed that Charm & Chain released their own namesake collection. After years of selling the best from other jewelry lines, they decided to create a range of pieces inspired by their vast knowledge and experience. I personally love that they created statement pieces as well as some simple, understated options. There’s also a vintage charm that resonates throughout the collection. Basically, I want everything they’re selling.

10 Mar

Jewelry is a pretty prevalent topic around here, and I love any excuse to talk about it. Up until now, I’ve only worn/found jewelry that’s made by other brands and designers. Honestly, it’s probably going to stay that way, but I wanted to try something new and attempt to make my own for once. Luckily, the “jewelry” I made only involved some suede fabric and a little creativity, but it’s totally relevant to the choker trend that’s everywhere right now.

I’ve always digged the choker necklace look, and have quite a few in my jewelry collection. Right now however, fabric choker’s seem to be all the rage, and I can totally see why. They bring back that 90s vibe everyone longs after, and they add a little drama to your look. I’ve seen so many variations on this trend, but wanted to put my own spin on it.

I knew I wanted to go with a suede fabric to give it a nicer feel. Also, this soft suede molds really nicely into any position you try to put it in, and it stays in place. Did I mention that each roll of suede ribbon only cost me $2 each? Yeah, you need to get to Michael’s and Hobby Lobby stat!

You’ll have to watch the video to get the tutorials on all three of these, but you can put it together in under a minute.

The first necklace I made is probably the boldest of the bunch. It’s a light brown suede with edgy gold embellishments. I made this to go around my neck three times to make for a dramatic statement. This one transported me back to the 90s, but also gave me a modern day vibe, as well!

Next up, I had to do something feminine. I used a piece of black suede string to tie a cute and neat little bow around the front of my neck. This bow choker would pair perfectly with an off-the-shoulder top.

Lastly, I opted for a mix between choker and lariat. Using the same black suede, I first created a choker and finished it off with a chic lariat. You can definitely make these necklaces a lot crazier, but I wanted to keep mine simple and free of any beads or other materials. What’s nice about doing it yourself is that you can customize it to your heart’s desire. I’ve seen a few fabric choker necklaces out there that are upwards of $50. I’m all about dropping money on high quality pieces, but in this case it makes so much more sense to go the DIY route.

Bauble Wish List: Kendra Scott Spring

16 Feb

It’s time for February’s Bauble Wish List! How is it mid February already? I want time to slow down, but I also want it to be spring, so I’m a little conflicted. How about time flying until spring arrives? I think that’s the best alternative.

Not only am I anxious for spring because of the weather, but now that I’ve seen the Kenda Scott spring collection in person, I’m even more ready for it. Luckily, the jewels are something we don’t have to wait around for because you can shop them now!

I attended an event at the Kendra Scott store in Liberty Township over the weekend, and was amazed by everything I was seeing. There are lots of gorgeous stones in this collection, and some incredible pieces that incorporate unique pearls. There are a lot of different pearl varieties too, including black brown and the standard ivory.

I fell in love with the amethyst Carey earrings, and knew I needed to get them. I included them below, but it’s hard to see its true beauty online. They’re a stunning shade of pastel purple, and think they really complement brown hair. Plus, I have a lot of weddings to attend this year, and have been searching high and low for a reliable pair of statement earrings. I can’t wait to style them!

I included my other favorites from the spring collection below. Everything looks rich and makes for a subtle statement. The stones do all the talking, and no two pieces are the same.

The Perfect Pairing: Valentine’s Day

4 Feb

Valentine's Day Cocktail

It’s almost the weekend, guys! Not only am I pumped that we’re one day away from Friday, but I get to see my boyfriend today after a monthlong hiatus. Our schedule’s have both been crazy since the new year, but he’s passing through Cincinnati today after spending the week working in Kentucky. Unfortunately, he can only stay for a quick lunch because he has to get back to Cleveland. It’s not too bad though, because he’ll be rolling through town next weekend and staying the entire time. We also got lucky that Valentine’s Day is next weekend, so it’s the perfect excuse to plan a night out and spend some time together.

In keeping with the theme of Valentine’s Day, today’s post is all about the day of love. As you may remember, I started a new series at the end of December called “The Perfect Pairing”. Basically, I take a cocktail (usually champagne based) and pair it with the baubles of my choice. I pick recipes and pieces of jewelry that I think complement each other to create a perfect match.

Since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, I put together a quick and easy cocktail that’s perfect for a date night or a Galentine’s Day celebration. It’s a Pink Champagne Raspberry Float. Doesn’t the name just sound tasty? I made something similar to these for my family on Christmas morning, but I really love this recipe because it involves only three ingredients. Yes, all you need is pink champagne (I used Barefoot Bubbly’s Pink Moscato Champagne), raspberry sorbet and fresh raspberries. Does it get any easier?!

If you want something a little less sweet, you can substitute the pink champagne for something more dry. To make this drink, all you have to do is put a few small scoops of sorbet in a champagne glass, pour the champagne over top of it and then garnish with fresh raspberries. I wasn’t kidding when I said it was simple! I love raspberries, so any excuse to mix them with my champagne is a win in my book.

The jewelry I’m pairing this champagne float with is these pink Kate Spade earrings. I thought these would be appropriate because I got them as a gift from my boyfriend a few years ago. He has great taste when it comes to jewelry, and I wear these earrings all the time. They really stand out against my brown hair. Plus, they’re pink and nothing says Valentine’s Day quite like some pink statement earrings.

Bauble Wish List: Loren Hope

14 Jan

It’s been awhile since I revolved a Bauble Wish List around one specific jewelry designer, but I thought it was time to highlight another favorite of mine. I’m sure most of you have heard of Loren Hope. In case you haven’t, I think you’re going to like what you see.

Loren Barham is the mastermind behind Loren Hope, a Rhode Island based jewelry craftsmen who has mastered the art of mixing glamorous and vintage-inspired. Her pieces feature bold and colorful gemstones, and are often paired with vintage looking hardware to create a perfectly beautiful piece of jewelry. One of my favorite things about her jewelry is that you can easily spot a piece made by Loren Hope. I love when that happens, because that means a designer has their aesthetic down to a science.

Another major plus is that her jewelry is crafted in the USA, so you can show your patriotism and treat yourself! There’s a lot of styling options with these pieces, too. You can wear it alone, or layer it up for a flashy and statement-making look. The colors of the gemstones are so rich, and look like priceless vintage masterpieces. The good news? The price point is extremely reasonable, meaning you can build up quite the collection!

Gift Guide: For The Jewelry Lover

14 Dec

Happy Monday, everyone! Monday’s aren’t so bad in December, because the holiday buzz seems to make these days fly by. Against my best intentions, I have yet to purchase a single Christmas gift. I always tell myself “this will be the year you get your gifts early”, and then I end up scrambling to get everything I need.

Since I shared my champagne-inspired gift guide last week, I wanted to continue the trend and share some jewelry gifting ideas! Really, you can never go wrong with giving the gift of jewelry. I’m pretty sure it’s the only gift my boyfriend has ever given me, and I love it. Jewelry is timeless, and I think all the ladies will agree that you can never have too much of it. Below are just a few of my favorite pieces at the moment, and all of these would make for impressive Christmas gifts! I just might have to do a little shopping for myself…

Bauble Wish List: Collar Necklaces

18 Nov

I think it’s been a couple of months since I’ve done a bauble wish list! That’s further proof just how crazy my life has been this fall, but my monthly jewelry series is back.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been seeing the collar necklace just about everywhere lately. This kind of necklace is unique because its construction is somewhat dainty, but it still makes a statement because it’s such a centerpiece.

Not sure what kind of top to pair this with? I’d go with a classic crew neck cut. If you really want to show off your collar necklace, then pair it with a scoop neck to show a bit more skin. I like the idea of wearing this necklace with a more rounded neckline because it complements the shape of the collar. See some of my favorite options below!

What are your thoughts on this necklace trend? Would you try it?!

Bauble Wish List: Rings

30 Sep

I love rings, but really don’t own too many of them. In fact, I probably have like five, and even that is a generous figure. I just can never find one that I like. I prefer to shop rings in person so I can try them on, which is probably why I don’t have too many.

Now that it’s fall, I feel like rings are a major piece of jewelry that deserve some attention. Since you’re starting to layer up, some of your bracelets and necklaces might not be as eye-catching or appropriate. Rings are great because you can still show them off without worrying if they’re getting covered up by bundles of clothes. You can still wear gloves too, for those extra chilly nights.

I’m a gold girl, so of course all the rings I found are gold. I love that these are all statement-making, but not too crazy or over the top. It’s more of a classic statement. Now that I’ve gotten some ring-spiration, I’m going to be keeping my eyes peeled for one to add to my tiny collection!
