Gift Guide: For The Champagne Lover

6 Dec

Every year I look forward to scouring the web for my  favorite champagne and jewelry-related gifts. Feel free to get some inspiration from previous years here. There’s a lot more gift ideas out there than your typical champagne flutes.

I always include the Chandon holiday bottle, and this year is no different. The 2016 bottle was actually designed by Rebecca Minkoff! It includes her signature gold stud pattern, and comes in a black or white bottle.

Another fun and totally unique gift idea is this sparkling wine making kit from Brooklyn Brew Shop. How insanely genius is this?! This would be perfect for that person in your life who likes something more hands on. This would also be a perfect activity for a couple or a girl’s night in.

These adorable Rosanna trays would make for a gorgeous catch-all for keys, change, etc.

I think at this point we’re all familiar with the Sugarfina champagne gummy bears! I’ve never actually tried these, but every time I see a picture of them I start salivating. Plus, this is such a hassle-free gift and would be very easy to ship.

Of course, I had to include something from Kate Spade in my champagne gift guide. They always nail it with their cheeky champagne pieces. I love this rose gold champagne bottle bangle!

This is a very small sampling of all the champagne-related ideas I came across this year, but I had to narrow it down somewhere. When I started looking looking for gift ideas, I didn’t even realize a few hours had passed because I was having so much fun. It was also great practice in the art of self-control!

Shorts That Sparkle

Happy Fat Tuesday! I’m not even mad about the start of a new week because the weekend was a great one. My boyfriend came in town for the weekend, and he’s here throughout the week for work. This is a rarity, so I’m pretty happy about it. Plus, we got a snow day yesterday, and I have to say that adult snow days are just as enjoyable as when I was little. After spending most of the day horizontal on the couch, we ventured out into the snow storm with my roommate and her boyfriend. We were all going a little stir crazy, so we decided to take a hike and find an open bar. We walked about a mile each way, but ended up finding a bar that was open during the storm. Maybe it was the cold walk, but the mimosa I had was one of the best I’ve ever had.

Since it’s a little snowy here in Cincinnati, I thought I’d share some pictures from a sunnier day. This outfit was part of a shoot I did for WCPO.com last week. This entire outfit is from Trend Boutique, and is perfect for a night out on the town. The outfit started with these adorable beaded and sequined shorts. What’s nice is that they’re really dressy, but they also have a drawstring, giving it a way more casual feel. You can move around freely and still look like you put some effort in!

Since this outfit was for a girls’ night out, I was holding a bottle of champagne. Really though, a bottle of champagne can go with any occasion if you ask me!

Bubbles: Valentine’s Day Cocktails

9 Feb

It’s officially Valentine’s Week! I’d like to think I’m not just into Valentine’s Day because I have a boyfriend, but because it’s just such a cheerful, indulgent holiday. Honestly, even if I didn’t have a boyfriend, I would be perfectly content dressing up in a fancy outfit and drinking a festive drink to celebrate. My boyfriend will be in town from Cleveland this weekend, and we have a dinner planned at Zula. He’s a big fan of mussels, and they are famous for their mussel selection. I still don’t know what I’m wearing, but I’m sure it’ll come together last minute!

It’s pretty customary that I share drink ideas for big holidays, so in typical “Bubbles” fashion, I pulled some enticing drink ideas to get you in the Valentine’s Day spirit. If you don’t feel like making cocktails, you can always take the easy route and opt for some pink champagne ;).

Gift Guide: For The Girl Who Loves Champagne

9 Dec

Today I wanted to share a little champagne-themed gift guide I put together in time for Christmas! You know it’s all about the champagne here on Baubles to Bubbles, so of course I had to go searching for some of my favorite gifts to give that revolve around the bubbly. Sure, you can never go wrong with gifting a bottle of champagne, but there are surprisingly a lot of adorable accessories out there if you’re looking to do something more creative.

Kate Spade makes a ton of cute drink accessories, and I kind of died when I saw this champagne bucket tote! I mean, how insanely amazing is this? It makes me want to carry around a bottle of champagne in style. There’s also a huge variety of fun champagne glasses out there that would be perfect for entertaining. I don’t know about you, but a fun champagne glass makes a glass of bubbly taste even better. These gold polkadot glasses from Anthropologie would be perfect for enjoying a champagne cocktail (or a mocktail).

Also, I’m hoping to get back to outfit posts this week. I’ve shot a few different looks recently, but they turned out so dark that I decided not to post them. Where are you spring?!

*Disclaimer: I would gladly take any of the below gifts if anyone is feeling extra generous this year ;).

Life Lately

Baubles to Bubbles Instagram

I really fell behind on posting this week. I’m mad at myself because it was such a nice week (other than the random snow on Tuesday), and I didn’t get to take advantage of it because I was so busy at work. In real estate, busy season starts around April and doesn’t slow down until fall. Translation: I’m not going to have much of a life for awhile. I don’t know why, but I’m so hard on myself when I don’t get to post as much as I’d like to. Maintaining a blog the past year and a half has become really important to me, so when I go through times where I can’t devote a lot of time to it, I feel like I’m letting myself down.

Today’s post is pretty much just a recap via my Instagram of random things in my life lately. I’m obsessed with glitter, but recently discovered my obsession for covering my champagne bottles in glitter. I don’t need to harp on my love for champagne, but adding pink and gold glitter to the equation ups the ante! It’s actually super easy, so I might do a DIY post on it sometime. After admiring my glittery work, I decided I had to have a mimosa, so I’d say that was a productive Saturday. Another moment I had to capture on Instagram was getting to wear my metallic oxfords for the first time this year! If loving a pair of shoes is wrong, then I don’t want to be right. I got these last year, and feel like I’m walking on clouds when I wear them because they’re so comfortable. Plus, I’ve gotten compliments from men and women alike, which is a success since men really don’t “get” our fashion choices. PS- they’re on major sale now!

If anyone suffers from sleep issues like I do, then this Clinique product is a miracle. Only recently did I notice I was starting to look extremely tired. It was actually when I was looking at my blog pictures that I realized I looked pretty rough around the eye area. I freaked out and started researching this new beauty issue (add it to the list), and how to solve it. I grew up using Clinique products, so when this little eye roller met my bags it was a match made in heaven. Seriously, this is like an eye massage! Lastly, I’m still a little giddy about finding this Kensie dress stuffed in the back of my closet. I got it years ago, and plan on wearing it to work way too often this spring! Shopping in your closet is the best.

Brilliant Bar Accessories

26 Mar

Now that spring is finally here, all I can think about is sitting outside and having a cocktail. And what’s better than having a cocktail accompanied by some cute bar accessories? Nothing, in my opinion. I’ve felt so cooped up this winter, and my drink selections have  pretty much consisted of strictly champagne. Not that I’m complaining about champagne (it’s my favorite), but I feel like warmer weather is all about trying fun new drinks. I’m not much of a liquor drinker, but I can’t pass up a mojito (heavy on the mint). I’m also convinced this Kate Spade “happy hour” flask would make any liquor taste good!  These cheeky Anthropologie coasters don’t really apply to me since I’m from the Midwest, but I’m obsessed with them! The “East Coaster” coaster is pictured below, but there’s also a “West Coaster” and “Gulf Coaster” selection!

Bubbles: Valentine’s Day Drinks

10 Feb

There’s nothing more fun than when Valentine’s Day falls on a weekend. You can go out for a nice dinner, and enjoy a few more drinks than you probably could during the week. Basically, there’s a lot more time to celebrate with your significant other, or make a party of it if you’re with your friends. Unfortunately, my boyfriend couldn’t make it into town this upcoming weekend, so we went to dinner over the weekend. We went to Prima Vista, one of our favorites, where I not so surprisingly had a glass of champagne to accompany my cheese ravioli. The sad part of this story is that I only ate one ravioli because we had made a massive lunch a few hours earlier (complete with homemade guac). We were halfway home when I realized I forgot to grab my leftovers off the table. Fail.

Since it’s become a theme here on Baubles to Bubbles to share holiday drink recipes, I had to share some amazing Valentine’s Day-inspired cocktails! I was salivating doing this “research”. Since I’m technically going to be alone on February 14, I’ve already made a date with a glass of pink moscato and these cookie dough truffles I love to make ;).

Bubbles: New Year’s Eve Cocktails

31 Dec

Happy New Year’s Eve! I cannot get over how fast 2013 went, but I have to admit I’m excited to ring in a new year. I’ve never been too big on resolutions to follow each year, because I know I usually don’t keep them. Maybe that’s not the best approach, but most of my resolutions involve working out more (which never lasts). My lack of resolutions could change, and maybe I’ll feel a little more motivated once 2014 actually arrives.

For now, though, I am focused on my New Year’s Eve celebrations! Champagne is a major topic here, and what better way is there to ring in a new year than with a bubbly drink? I’ll be celebrating at a dueling piano bar across the river in Kentucky. As of now, I still have no clue what I’m going to wear. I have so many dressy dresses I want to wear, but also some fun versions that would probably be more appropriate at a bar. As long as I’m holding a glass of champagne at midnight, then my dress stress doesn’t matter. I’ve rounded up some tempting champagne cocktails I’m dying to try!

Hope everyone has a fun and eventful New Year!

Bubbles: Christmas-Themed Cocktails

20 Dec

I can’t get over the fact that Christmas is so soon. It feels like just yesterday I was overeating stuffing and mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving. Luckily, Christmas is a food and drink-heavy holiday in my family. We have a Christmas Eve party at my house every year, complete with plenty of food and champagne (and a chocolate fountain I’ll be permanently stationed next to). Then, on Christmas we head to my great Aunt’s for an Italian Christmas with homemade ravioli. I’d gladly take Christmas every day for the food and drinks alone, not the presents.

Since bubbles are a major theme here on Baubles to Bubbles, I had to share some Christmasy cocktails just in time for the big day. Enjoy!

Gift Ideas For The Champagne Lover

16 Dec

I love champagne. This obviously isn’t a secret, but this time of year always deepens my relationship with a good glass of bubbly. While it’s always nice to pop open a bottle of champagne during your holiday parties, it’s even better to have fun accessories to go along with your drinking experience. I’m talking coasters, bottle stoppers, and fun glasses. Drinking champagne should always be a fun experience, after all! I found a lot of good options, but narrowed down a few of my favorites. Don’t even get me started on how hard it was to pick out my favorite Jonathan Adler coaster. And these bow bottle stoppers might take the cake for cutest drink accessory. Martha Stewart really knows what she’s doing! I included the Mikasa champagne flutes because I have them and love them. I’ve had these glasses for years now, and they are a classic. The polka dot glass is my favorite one to drink out of, but all of the patterns are great.

PS- over the weekend I finally got to meet my friend Cara of Cara’s Cliche. She was in Cincinnati for a work party, and it was so fun getting to know her and her husband. I think we sat at Starbucks for two hours talking! They were honestly some of the nicest, most laid back people I’ve met. It made me want to meet more of the friends I’ve made blogging the past year.
